Nursing is a very rewarding and fulfilling career, but that does not make it an easy one. In order to achieve her goal of becoming a nurse Akudo Joy Adiboshi had to spend four years in college in order to earn her nursing license.
Those who are interested in pursuing a career in nursing have several different options available to them once they graduate from college and obtain their license. One of the most common jobs for new nurses is floor nursing. Floor nurses work in hospitals and are responsible for making sure patients get the medicines they need, reporting any new developments to the patients’ doctor and simply making sure they are comfortable. This can be a very fulfilling career, but at the same time it is one of the harder jobs in nursing because it often requires long hours and the willingness to perform a lot of different tasks. However, that can also make it a great opportunity for new nurses because it provides plenty of experience that can be applied to other careers in nursing.
Another common path is the work in a doctor’s office. This job is similar to floor nursing, but is a bit less stressful since you won’t be dealing with as many patients and you’ll rarely work with those who are seriously ill. You’ll often be in charge of handling blood draws, shots and other preliminary work that needs to be done before the doctor is ready to see the patient.
